RISE UP: Songs of the Women’s Movement DVD

RISE UP: Songs of the Women’s Movement is a historic 1-Hour Documentary music special that showcases anthems and hit songs from the 1900s through the mid-1980s and explores how music helped propel the growth of the Women’s Liberation Movement and inspired broad changes ranging from voting rights…to reproductive health…to gender inclusiveness…to increased educational and economic opportunities. The dynamic filmed soundtrack of the women’s movement features performances by Aretha Franklin, Lesley Gore, Tina Turner, Loretta Lynn and interviews and performances with Cyndi Lauper, Melissa Etheridge, Gloria Gaynor, Janis Ian, Joan Jett, and others, as well as insights from activists such as Gloria Steinem, Jane Fonda, Toni Van Pelt (the president of NOW) and others.  The music in RISE UP is interwoven with documentary footage depicting historic milestones of the movement to tell a compelling and previously untold story about one of the most important social movements in the 20th century.

It is a must-see show for multiple generations of women and men.
